Campaigning Versus Governing
Karl Rove wrote a piece in the morning Wall Street Journal in which he discussed the difference one feels when walking into the White House after having waged a successful campaign for the presidency.
He mentions his experiences in the Bush Administration and suggests that the Obama Administration will have similar experiences.
That has already begun to unfold as we've watched the near daily press conferences conducted by the president-elect in which some of the promises are being couched in terms less far-reaching than had originally been the case.
I think that we all can understand that there must be a tremendous 'reality check' that occurs as one walks into the Oval Office knowing that it is 'on him' or 'on her' from that moment for at least four years.
Rove also mentioned the toll this experience takes on families. I hope that the Obama family will fare well as have, seemingly at least, most families that have had the experience.
Would that we could eliminate the grandiose from our campaigns, but that is only wishful thinking. There is always going to be significant difference between what we thought we bought and what gets delivered. I had lesser expectations than I suspect many of the Obama supporters had. I think I'll not be as shocked as will they as this administration unfolds.

Reality should start setting in around next week Friday...
All I know is that on Tuesday - I will be shutting myself off from all media and the Obamagsm is going on.
