If You Sleep With Dogs...

An old saying holds that it you sleep with dogs, you'll get fleas.  That same old saying could and should be applied to politicians who try to have it both ways.  They are the ones who profess to be as honest as the day is long only to see a very brief span betwixt sun-up and sundown.

If we look at the people with whom a politician associates, we can develop a picture of who and what that politician is.  If the politician is cavorting with unsavory people, then the politician might well be unsavory, too.  If the politician cavorts with extremists, then the politician could well be extreme in his or her own right.

When we look at the cast of characters that our current president had gathered about himself, we see some far less than savory people.  People who had, at one time, constructed bombs for buildings or who raised rabble from their pulpits or who had been involved in less than honorable conduct would lead one to suspect, at least, that the politician who hung out in that group might well have some flaws.

When we look at the early workplace environment, we see a close relative of ACORN and we see "community organizing".  When we see the home of the president, we see something that seems extravagant for a man of so-called meager means as he told us of the hardships he had endured.  We see a real estate deal that was very convenient for the president but that also involved a man who is most unsavory.  When we look at the political pedigree, we see people who were cast aside so t hat he could have an office on his way to the top.  We see a "back bencher" who never stood for anything in particular.  Another old saying holds that if you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything.

Now we watch as the vaunted "Chicago machine" bulls its way down the corridors of Congress to slam this deal and that deal through whether or not the people want the result.  We see senior politicians who have been muddied by their own hand at the very center of some of the programs.  We see appointees that are not subject to Senate review named to very high positions only to have warts exposed a short time later.  If there is a vetting process, it must be terribly flawed.

But, through all this, the mainstream media continues to be in love with the Obama family.  They can do no wrong and their opposition can do no right.  The liberal extremists use terms like "tea bagging" and are never once taken to task for that nasty language.  Programs like "Cash for Clunkers" that were detrimental to the long-term health of the economy were touted as brilliant even as one would've had to be blind to what would really happen in their aftermath.  The various bailout programs that plunged the United States into ownership of numerous businesses might well have been better used to truly stimulate the economy by simply handing the money out to citizens with which to pay off loans or with which to buy homes or new vehicles.

When one sleeps with dogs, there is the very real possibility of a bad case of fleas resulting.
